Description

The International School of Music Extension Course is for Primary and Intermediate Course graduates. In this course all students expand their musical styles of repertoire and technical development. This, together with the acquired musical awareness, enables the teacher to work with the students in a broader field including composition, improvisation, keyboard harmony and extended theoretical components. Many students will present for the AMEB theory exams, having completed the set syllabus for this level in the Extension curriculum.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

  1. Piano tuition pieces are varied in both genre and difficulty to improve technical skills.
  2. Aural (Ear) – advanced aural training
  3. Singing - pitch and vocal expression through original, contemporary songs
  4. Percussion – Extended rhythm work is explored through weekly rhythm co-ordination exercises
  5. Theory – Students learn the AMEB Theory Grade 1 course and complete the exam.
  1. Theory – intellectual confirmation of music notation and theoretical elements
  2. Music Appreciation – to develop listening skills and through actions understand musical structure
  3. Musical Games – Fun activities involving learnt skills

Pianorama Extension

  • 10 week term
  • 4 terms per year
  • Extension books are additional and cost $40.15 each
  • Students study the AMEB grade 1 theory course and exam. Books and exam fees are additonal
  • Term 1, Tue 29th Jan to Sat 13th April
  • Term 2, Mon 29th April to Sat 6th July
  • Term 3, Mon 22nd June to Sat 28th September
  • Term 4, Mon 14th Oct to Sat 21st December
